I love giving unique presents that give joy to the recepients. This year, these were my favorites. Remember my Mom's sixty fifth birthday present? Although sixty-five envelopes of memories was a great idea, it was a little bulky. My Mom loved the gift and I know she wanted to share it with her friends. To make it easier, I compiled the memories into a book. I used blurb.com. It's the second time I've used this program (last year, I assembled a cook book with the recipes from our first restaurant for my Dad). One word to the wise: DO NOT USE THE ONLINE VERSION. Download the blurb book program. I spent four hours putting together the book on the online version, saved it multiple times and blurb.com lost it. Let's just say it wasn't my best moment when I discovered the error.
My Dad is obsessed with the town where he grew up. He waxes nostalgic any chance he gets about the wonders of Hinton, WV. When I attended the oh joy! blog workshop, I encountered many talented ladies. One of them, Lindsey Buck, illustrates hand drawn maps. She collaborated with me to create a wonderful rendition of Hinton for my Dad (shown above). He loved it.
My husband is an avid tea drinker. Every year I've been lucky to discover a cute tea infuser. This years is a floating duckie. I think it's adorable and hilarious. I purchased mine at Home Rule on 14th St. but you can also purchase it online.
I gave this notepad to my husband's family, my Mom, my Uncle and my brother. It's genius that it's black and white plus you can customize it with any photo. It's also magnetic. It was met with rave reviews.
I hope you had equal success with the gifts you gave and received. Now onto the New Year!
